We and our partners are gearing up to deploy our drift cards for the 11th experiment in our #lagoondrift study of marine debris motion! Once the purple eco-friendly wooden drift cards are in the water, we will be calling on everyone to channel their inner citizen scientist and be on the lookout along the coast. While the cards are deployed into the Lake Worth Lagoon and Intracoastal Waterway, cards have been found all along the east coast of Florida in past experiments, so please help us spread the word and follow the instructions on the card to report any you find!

5️⃣ A hawksbill’s carapace is easily identified by a distinctive “tortoiseshell” pattern and serrated shell edges.

Our #LagoonDrift education team had an amazing visit with 6th graders from Palm Beach Day Academy today. The classes had the opportunity to learn about and discuss ocean currents, and how our Lagoon Drift card study helps us better understand water movement in and around Palm Beach County’s coastal waterways. To round off the class, each student became a citizen scientist and decorated our purple eco-friendly wooden drift cards that will be deployed on April 25th!
