In addition to providing nursery habitats, being a natural coastal defence and a valuable carbon sink, mangroves play an important role in contributing to the wellbeing, food security and protection of coastal communities worldwide.

7️⃣ As soon as southern stingrays are born they are able to use their barbed tail as a form of defense.
8️⃣ When a southern stingray is buried under the sand it can’t use its gills to breathe so instead uses special openings called spiracles located on their head.
9️⃣ A southern stingray mother carries her fertilized eggs inside her body until they hatch and then gives birth to live pups.
