Florida Climate Week 2025

Help Combat Climate Change During VoLo Foundation’s Florida Climate Week

North Palm Beach, Florida (September 10, 2025) – Celebrating its fifth year, VoLo Foundation’s Florida Climate Week, October 6-12, will be uniting leaders, experts, and advocates statewide to tackle Florida’s most urgent climate challenges, and advancing sustainable solutions. During the week, Floridians can take part in a variety of free, virtual, and in-person events across the state hosted by local nonprofits, businesses, and educational institutions, including the West Palm Beach-based nonprofit, ANGARI Foundation.

Organized by VoLo Foundation, Florida Climate Week is an initiative to raise awareness, share knowledge, and drive practical solutions for a sustainable and resilient future for Florida. The weeklong program underscores the importance of collective action and community engagement in combating climate change.

“Florida Climate Week is a statewide call to action where communities come together to confront their own climate challenges,” said Thais Lopez Vogel, trustee and cofounder of VoLo Foundation. “Conversations about climate vulnerabilities such as sea level rise, hurricanes, flooding, and drought, can open the door to meaningful solutions.”

In Palm Beach County, nonprofit participant ANGARI Foundation will be hosting an event at the Safe Harbor North Palm Beach Marina on Thursday, October 9, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., called “Talking Trash: Exploring Marine Debris Onboard R/V ANGARI.” Locals are invited to come aboard R/V ANGARI, the Foundation’s 65-foot research vessel, to explore marine debris and participate in their upcoming citizen science experiment, Lagoon Drift. The experiment is composed of a series of coordinated releases of small, eco-friendly wooden drift cards to study the motion of water and pollutants in waterways in and around the Lake Worth Lagoon.

During the event, meet ANGARI’s team at the docks while touring their research vessel, which is known for its support of various marine life research, including sharks, sea turtles, coral reefs, sargassum, and more. Following the tour, decorate Lagoon Drift cards and learn about Palm Beach County’s local waterways.

“Our event brings the community together to explore how marine debris affects our waters and to take part in hands-on science,” said Angela Rosenberg, president and cofounder of ANGARI Foundation. “Neighbors, families, and friends can help protect the Lake Worth Lagoon and be part of a shared effort to keep our local environment healthy for generations to come.”
